Key farming questions answered – a Landbouweekblad partnership

The ORCT and Landbouweekblad have joined forces to host a free Farmers’ Field Day, bringing experts together to help address important farming issues.

The Field Day will answer questions around Conservation Agriculture and Renosterveld management and restoration.

The aim is to provide farmers with tools to support productivity through sustainble farming practices.

Topics and speakers at the Field Day are:

  • – Fire as an ecological instrument in managing Renosterveld: Keir Lynch (Manager of the ORCT’s Watercourse Restoration Project)
  • – Restoration ecology: Dr Odette Curtis (Director: ORCT)
  • – The impact of Conservation Agriculture on erosion: Dr Johann Strauss (Scientist at the Western Cape Department of Agriculture)

The Field Day takes place on Thursday 12 July, at 9:00 for 9:30am; and concludes at 13:00 with a lunch.

It takes place on the farm, Klipfontein (owned by Renosterveld guardian, MG Lötter), between Caledon and Villiersdorp.

While the event is free for farmers, booking is essential. Please contact Sharon King on 082 762 2787 or email: admin@overbergrenosterveld.org.za.
