Things to do during your stay

Hike the Reserve
There are two hiking trails and two shorter walking trails to enjoy on our Haarwegskloof Renosterveld Reserve. You can experience these with a knowledgeable guide who brings the marvels of renosterveld to life – or enjoy them at your own pace on a self-guided walk.
Guided hike: R250 per person (includes the conservation fee)
Self-guided hike: R60 per person conservation fee

De Hoop: Game drive and lunch
The beautiful De Hoop Nature Reserve is great for hikers, cyclists and bird & whale watchers. It is about 34,000 ha in size and, together with the neighbouring marine reserve extending 5 km into the Indian Ocean, it offers a vast and fascinating variety of wildlife and marine life. Look out for bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, grey rhebok, baboon and yellow mongoose. De Hoop Vlei is great for birding and Potberg is home to the only remaining Western Cape breeding colony of Cape vultures. During whale season (July-November), watch dozens of southern right whales cruising along the coast from the Koppie Alleen dune. Stop for lunch or coffee & cake at Bites Beach Café (at Koppie Alleen) or at the Fig Tree Restaurant.
Sijnn Wines: Wine tasting and lunch
Visit the quaint village of Malgas and experience the ‘pont’ (ferry), linking the communities on the east and west bank of the Breede River. Visit this exciting Malgas vineyard, producing small amounts of concentrated fruit with a fresh, complex mineral character, grown on stony soils in a warm dry climate that is moderated by the constant sea breeze. Owners David & Rita Trafford, and winemaker Charla Haasbroek will welcome you to the wine farm, and you can enjoy cellar tours and barrel tastings. Join them for a lunch on their stoep overlooking the Breede River and go for a renosterveld vineyard walk on their property. Sijnn Wines are open for tastings Monday to Saturday 10.00-15.00.
