For the Overberg Renosterveld, spring is not quite over yet. As summer is around the corner and the weather starts to warm, there are still some beautiful ‘harvest blooms’ to be seen.
While Cape Town may have received a significant amount of its much-needed rains this winter, the Overberg has not fared so well. After a beautiful start to the rainy season (when we all dared to hope that the drought was at last breaking), the Overberg has been deprived of much of the rain that many Capetonians had assumed had made it further up the south coast through July and August.
There’s a reason why farmer, Nico Neethling, chose to sign his conservation easement HERE. It not only overlooks the patch of Renosterveld he’ll be protecting forever. It’s also next to the grave of his father, on their family farm, Keykas, close to Klipdale in the Overberg.
